That is probably the most frequently asked question I hear on a daily basis.  I hear that question asked in many forms as well ... such as; "what are the hottest products to sell online?"  "What would you recommend I sell online?"  .... and of course .... "What products do YOU sell online?"

No matter what, when starting an internet business (or any business) people do not start off with the intentions to fail, so of course they want to hear about what is working.  But, no matter how many times I hear this question I will always tell people that I can't pick the product for them.  Once, I am gone ... out of the picture they are stuck with that product.  I may have a passion for that product, and know everything there is to know about it, but that does not mean the person I may tell to get into it (if I did that) will share the same passions. 

What do you do then?

If you need justification about what does sell online, then just take a quick visit to Ebay.  Ebay has a wonderful tool that allows you to see past auctions (including what has sold, what has not sold, and how much it sold for!).  You must have an account with Ebay to use this feature.  Simply go to Ebay and up in the top right had corner (under the search box) you will see a text link that says; "advanced search" ... when you click on that you go to an area where you can type in a keyword and also pick an option to "view completed listings only"  ... when you do this for whatever you search you will see a list of all items that have been selling and again...what they sold for. 

This should prove to you that what you are thinking about selling online .. infact does sell online.  Use Ebay for the marketing tool that it can be as well as an awesome auction site.. 

I think you get the point here, but use features like this on any auction sites to help you see what is selling online and what is not.  Until you get the site out there online and marketed you never know if its going to be a success online, but atleast you will have the satisfaction to know that product you are thinking about basing you site around is reall selling online - even if its Ebay.
