Here is a quick post to give everyone a few pointers about what they can do to get better prices from thier suppliers/dropshippers. Most new internet business owners that are dropshipping products
have never had a business (online or off) and often get overwhelmed
with what can and can't be done. Because of this, the supplier does
not know you, or your ability to make them money by selling products on
your website. You need to establish yourself on the search engines
first to help you prove to the supplier that you do infact know what
you are doing.
If you can show your dropshipper
that you have 5, 10 maybe 15 top ten rankings for major keyword phrases
(on major engines like Google, Yahoo! and MSN), yet you are selling
nothing then it becomes easier to negotiate a better price with them
(It can only be the prices, OR your website). The bottom line for them
is to make money, so when you bring this to thier attention they will
listen.
Obviously, you will not get the same prices offered to you as someone who has been working with the dropshipper
for 10 years, but you prove to them that you know what you are doing
with internet marketing, and dazzle them with your traffic and rankings.
This can be an easy way to get better prices, establish yourself
better with your supplier and prove to them you are really in this for
the long haul. They need to see that at times before they give the
best possible prices. Again this was a quick post, but wanted to share
some ideas with some struggling internet business owners on how to work
with dropshippers
to get better prices before they (the small business owner) give up on
thier ideas. (cause nothing seems to be happening - no sales etc - my
advice HANG IN THERE. It will happen)
So in conclusion when you have really good rankings, and outstanding traffic take this information to your dropshipper and see what can be worked out. You might be suprised how willing they are to work with you!
