Think email lists can only be useful for information marketing?  Think again.  I have several highly successful ecommerce (product based) sites that do well every year and keep getting better based on the list I am building up.

Some of my websites are very targeted, and anytime you send out an email with a new product the conversion rate will be pretty good, but that is just it.  Getting that targeted list.  No matter how much money you pay, or how hard you try to find one, a very targeted list is hard to come by that is not full of spammy email addresses.

The best way to build up the most targeted list possible is to start doing something with your current customer base.  Start offering things like "10% off for each family member you refer" or give the client "50% off next order" for sending us the information of 10 family or friends that would be interested in the site.  If you have a list of 500 and each get 10 that is now 5000 targeted email address that you have that are not spammy.

I know this is not earth shattering information, but a lot of people I talk with forget that building up an email list with a dropshipping site is just as important as building up a list for an info site.
