If you are looking for more avenues (then just your shopping cart) to sell products online, then you need to pay close attention to another method I use to make more money with my dropship sites.
I am talking about blogging. Believe it or not, there are still people out there that really do not know what a blog is. What you are reading right now (from The Shipper) is a blog, or think of it as a journal. If you are maintaining a journal you know that you write in it daily. Think about a blog being your business journal where you write about the industry news, or hot topics for the day in regards to your business. You can use this blog (journal) to help get the word out about the dropship products you sell online.
Some industries are hard to blog about, and if that is the case with your site and you find it hard to blog (or write daily journal entries) then you can start off by spotlighting products that you sell on your website. When you blog about it, you can include several images of the products, give a great description, and even give your two cents (review) about the product.
When you do this you can provide anchor text links back to your specific product pages that will help the search engines better know what keywords are associated with what specific product pages. As long as you are providing new and original content and not copy and pasting from somewhere, this will benefit you every time you make a new blog post.
With blogs it is also much easier for social networks and social community users to save and bookmark your blog posts. Generally the site itself is not saved or bookmarked, but the individual story (or journal entry) you write is. We all know the importance of people linking to you when it comes to search engine rankings. The more people that will link to you and save your story, the more potential traffic. The more traffic - the more sales.
When starting to blog, just keep in mind you are opening your site to a whole new area of marketing and potential traffic. You may not see it at first, but you will eventually. Be a consistent blogger, and provide useful information and people will trust you and what you are selling through your blog. That is the whole point - to make your business more money!
It is pretty easy to get started blogging. Here are a couple of the biggest options on the web right now. I use both of these platforms, and they are both super easy to learn and use.
