If you have done any kind of keyword research and analysis on your website then you know how many different keywords you can potentially be found for on the search engines. I wanted to talk about something (that I see) that is done wrong by those new to Internet business. Often times I see "new to Internet business" owners limit the keywords they try to obtain rankings on due to the number of searches per month. They are always trying to go after the highest searched for (harder to obtain) keywords.
For me its simple, if I can find a keyword that only has 50 searches a month, but has the potential to make me $500 per sale then I will go after that keyword all day. However if there is a keyword that gets 50 searches a month that my profit would only be $1 per sale I am really not going to be wasting me time with it. Do you see the difference? Do not limit yourself to going after the highest search for words until you figure out what your profit per sale could be.
There are hundreds of really amazing keywords that are less competitive, and easier to obtain high rankings in the search engines if you just look a little deeper for them. I use keyword research tools such as:
The thing that is nice about keyword research for those dropshipping products, is there are usually an amazing amount of untouched keywords that are easy to obtain high rankings on. Those above keyword tools will give you hundreds of variations of search phrases that you can tap into, and research deeper.
When you are first starting out with a new website its important to establish yourself with the search engines correctly, and build yourself up through time. If you play by the search engines rules then you will be rewarded by them long term. If you try to obtain high rankings for words that are to hard then you will never get any kind of traffic to your site. If you go after the words that are more obtainable you will get some traffic and sales. You can use the above keyword tools to help you find really good keywords to drive traffic with to your dropshipping site.
To give an example: If you are selling Mattresses, and the biggest search for word is "Mattress", do not try to go after that "general" mattress word with a brand new site, find words such as - "latex mattress" or "latex memory foam mattress" which may have less searches on them per month, but would be much easier to obtain a ranking for. Because they are very targeted words too, I think the conversion rate for those finding you for such words would be higher as well.
In conclusion if you are doing your best to come up with the best possible keywords, the traffic to your site will increase faster, as well as your conversion rate.
