I got asked this question the other day;
"Well, I was wondering if you could maybe give me some tips or
suggestions on Link Building Strategies...Where I am struggling with it
that it seems that it takes a lot of resource to really break into some
major link building strategies...and currently I have a limited
resource and trying to find high quality links for a gardening website.
Any thoughts, suggestions, tips....I would love to hear from you!"
I think this is a great question because most of the people who are starting dropshipping businesses are in fact "niche websites", and have limited resources. I have some tips for finding high quality links that will not be a strain on your budget, but rather your time. If you can follow some simple steps, and not get your feelings hurt for being told "no", then you will be able to build some amazing links, and improve your link building strategies.
- Tip One - Read the post over at the SEO Firm 97th Floor on building links with Google News and this will be an amazing starting place.
- Tip Two - Search Google for related niche websites that have articles that you could get a link in. Here is how you would go about it - On Google type in "gardening articles" or " keyword articles" obviously putting in your keyword where I say "keyword". I would suggest going several hundred pages back and finding sites with good content that are indexed on Google, and do not have many outbound links.
- Tip Three - If you are not familiar with "cache" or "indexed" as far as it goes with Google let me explain. You want to make sure the page is indexed on Google which means that Google knows the page exists. If it does not exist in their database then it will not do you any good if its linking to you. The final thing to consider is the "cached date". You need to make sure if it is indexed that the cached date is a recent one. If you find a page that the cache date is almost a year old, again the link will do you no good. If it is a recently cached page, then there is a chance it will be re-cached (re-indexed in a way) soon and the link will do you some good. To find out the cache date of any page type this in Google - cache:www.yourpage.com/articlepage.htm - make sure you put the URL you are wanting to test where I have the "www.yourpage.com/articlepage.htm" Searching out links this way, is good because of the behavioral targeting results that Google gives you. You will not find higher quality links that will do you more good with the search engines.
These three simple tips are a good place for anyone looking for niche link building strategies to begin with. The links you find will be high quality and targeted, and they will not cost you anything but the time it takes to do the research and ask for the link. This is also the point where you need to not worry about people telling you no. I get about 5 out of 10 telling me no, but the other 5 telling you yes, are worth it. If you can even build up a couple targeted links a day using this method it will be a good place for a niche website with limited resources to start with.
