Do You Need A Mint?

I have been testing out some pretty cool tracking software that I wanted to share with everyone.  Understanding the importance of web analytics is one area that many Internet business owners lack in.  They lack in this area because they do not know how important it is, know where to get it, or feel it might cost to much.  I have read many killer posts over at 97th Floor, (an SEO Firm) on the importance of website analytics, and I would suggest you check them out and add them to your RSS subscription list.

I have been been testing (and using and loving) tracking software from a company called Mint.  The software is server hosted, so you do not have to fear about giving away information to major search engines like Google (Google Analytics).  There is much debate going on in the search industry about how much information we are freely giving away to these search engines that could come back to hurt us.

I love Mint because it is real time stats, and is cheap.  It really is that simple for me.  There is no reason for any level business to not run this tracking software.  It is only $30 per domain, and that is it, there is no monthly fees.  If you can't find it your budget to spend $30 bucks on site tracking software then you should not be in business at all!

Something interesting to point out is that since I have been running Mint I have found that Google Analytics was missing a ton of unique visitors, and referrers.  I have thought for a long time that it was, but I have never tested something to it side by side to prove it, and this did.

I have not been paid by Mint to blog about this either, I just flat out love them and wanted to share something I felt would benefit all the readers of this blog.  Those who are small business owners who are on a budget.  You do not sacrifice quality either by spending only $30.  It is server hosted and secure, and like I said before, real time!  Yes, there are other Bid Management tools out there that I recommend, but this one is pretty cheap, and could be a good solution for small time bloggers.

You will have to have some technical knowledge, because the software used is server hosted (on your server).  They have great tutorials to help you get it taken care of so do not let that scare you.  I just wanted to make sure everyone knew that it was going to require a little technical know how.
