News: Google Launches Commerce Search 2.0

Google recently launched a new service that will allow customers to find what they want, quicker, more effectively, and easier. Google basically provides a search engine in your website that has automatic spellcheck, advanced synonym options so customers can find the kind of products they are looking for as well as query autocompletion so they can find the most relevant products to their searches. Along with the search, users can also customize their searching options, filter results and manage promotions with their merchandizing dashboard. This feature allows users to see what kind of products are being searched the most often. Another perk offered with this system is the help of an expert panel to assist with any questions, and it also includes access to Google Analytics which shows how customers are accessing your website.
The original commerce search was introduced in November and started at $50,000 a year, which for major companies who make thousands of dollars a year, this new product from Google could really benefit their companies. However, the new commerce search 2.0 with a price tag of $25,000 a year minimum, this system is not small business friendly at all, which is one of the biggest complaints from people who comment on news articles about this new product. Perhaps with Google slowly declining their price of their searches, small business might be able to afford their services someday, but for right now, it’s just another service to mega e-commerce stores.
